We partner directly with communities to ensure access to clean water, safe housing, and meaningful opportunities. empowering people to build better lives.
We support communities to build stronger futures. In the UK, we partner with grassroots programs and youth clubs, creating real change in young people's lives. In rural Bangladesh, we delivered water and housing then backed local partners expanding into education, livelihoods, and emergency relief. We believe in a simple progression: support communities first, build togetherness, unlock empowerment, create prosperity. One step at a time.
Meeting immediate needs, water, shelter, food, essentials.
Working alongside local groups and NGOs, not instead of them.
Training and tools that let people build their own way forward.
Long-term change, communities that thrive, not just survive.
Our projects are built around our core STEP Pillars, ensuring that every initiative addresses a fundamental need and contributes towards creating lasting, positive change in the lives of the communities we serve.
Safe WaterAccess to safe water is fundamental to health, dignity and human wellbeing. In communities where clean and reliable water is scarce, families can face preventable illness, long journeys to collect water, missed education and reduced opportunities to earn a living. Providing safe water closer to where people live can significantly improve daily life by reducing exposure to waterborne diseases, freeing up time for children to attend school and enabling families to focus on work, education and other essential activities. Safe water also strengthens communities by supporting hygiene, sanitation, food security and resilience, helping people build healthier and more secure futures.
1 in 4 people globally still lack access to safe drinking water
When children lack access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, their health, education, and futures are put at risk
Dream HomeA safe and dignified home is more than just a roof over someone's head. it provides security, privacy, stability and a place where families can live with dignity. For families living in unsafe or inadequate housing, everyday life can be affected by exposure to harsh weather, overcrowding, poor sanitation and insecurity. Through our Dream Home Project, STEP Foundation works to address these challenges by helping vulnerable families access safe, secure and suitable homes designed around their essential needs. By providing a safe place to live, the project can help protect families from the elements, improve health and wellbeing, create a stable environment for children to learn and grow, and give families the foundation they need to build more secure and independent futures. For us, a home is not simply a building. it is a place of safety, dignity, belonging and hope.
Little HeartsEvery child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, supported and able to reach their full potential. Through our Little Hearts Project, STEP Foundation takes a holistic approach to supporting vulnerable children by addressing their educational, nutritional, healthcare and wider wellbeing needs. We provide essential school supplies such as books, school bags, pens and other learning materials, helping children attend school prepared and able to participate in their education. Alongside education, we provide food and access to essential healthcare and other support that can help protect their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and thrive, with enough food to eat, a safe home to live in, an education to build their future, and clean water to keep them healthy.
Step Up is about giving people the tools to build a life of their own, not to depend on one handed to them. Sometimes the gap between relying on aid and earning a livelihood is a single piece of equipment such as a boat, a rickshaw, a sewing machine or a place on a training course. Step Up is delivered through local partners who know precisely who needs what and why. In rural Bangladesh, this means productive assets and skills training that let people shift out of casual, low-paid labour and into stable self-employment they can sustain and build on for years. In the UK, the same principle takes a different shape: too many young people simply don't have the opportunities they deserve, so Step Up works through grassroots youth clubs, football and exercise-based programmes to give them structure, mentorship and a genuine path forward.

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and an obligation for Muslims who meet the relevant conditions. It is a form of worship and a means of supporting people experiencing poverty and hardship, helping wealth reach those who are entitled to receive it. Through our Zakat Project, STEP Foundation seeks to make the process of giving Zakat simple, transparent and purposeful, ensuring funds are directed towards eligible beneficiaries and appropriate Zakat purposes. Working with trusted local partners, we support vulnerable individuals and families through essential assistance such as food, clean water, shelter, livelihoods and emergency support, according to applicable Zakat principles. We aim to handle every Zakat donation with care, accountability and respect, so that your contribution reaches those who need it most and fulfils its intended purpose.
Indeed, those who believe, do good, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax will receive their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.
Emergency AppealWhen a crisis strikes, people can lose access to the essentials they depend on, often with little warning. Through our Emergency Appeal, STEP Foundation responds to urgent needs both in the UK and Bangladesh, working with local partners and grassroots organisations to reach people who are most vulnerable. In the UK, we support projects working with people experiencing homelessness and those facing hardship, helping provide essential items, food and practical support. In Bangladesh, our emergency response includes distributing warm blankets and essential supplies when winter hits hardest, helping vulnerable families protect themselves from the cold and difficult conditions. Whether responding to homelessness, extreme weather or other emergencies, our aim is to provide timely, practical support that protects dignity, meets immediate needs and helps people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
